Off-Road Recreational Motorcycles (Dirtbikes)
Effective July 1, 2021, dirtbikes can be registered in Wyoming, and driven on public roadways, excluding the Interstate.
Definition of a dirtbike:
W.S. 31-1-101 (a)(vx)(K)(II): “Off-road recreational vehicle” means: Any motorcycle not required by law to be licensed that has an unladen weight of six hundred (600) pounds or less, is designed to be ridden off-road with the operator astride upon a sear or saddle and travels on two (2) tires.
Equipment required to register and operate a dirtbike on public roadways:
Headlight
Taillight
Rear Reflector
Stop Lamp
Muffler
Brakes
Mirror
Horn
Note - It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure the dirtbike has this equipment before registering and operating it on roads.
Dirtbike titles are obtained from the County Clerk, and registration is obtained from the County Treasurer. Applicants will be required to complete the MPV/ORV-MC Checklist Form and submit it to the respective County Official.
