Skip Hornecker of Lander represents the Sheriff’s Association, and has been a member of the Commission since its inception, currently serving as Vice Chairman.
He has been a member of the law enforcement community since 1984, holding positions as Detention Deputy, Patrol Deputy, DARE Deputy, Search and Rescue Coordinator, Lieutenant Captain, and Sherriff of Fremont County for the past 16 years. He has also served on many boards, councils, and associations, including the Wyoming Sherriff’s, Wyoming Sheriff’s and Chiefs of Police, Wyoming Peace Officer’s, Wyoming Search and Rescue, National Sheriff’s, Western State’s Sheriff’s, Drug Abuse Resistance Education, Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice, and the Wyoming Court Security Commission.
Hornecker has lived in Fremont County the majority of his life, growing up on a ranch just outside of Lander, and currently on his own acreage northeast of Hudson. He has been married to his best friend Margie for the past 43 years, and they have three (3) children, and 10 grandchildren.
