DOT Medical Certificate waiver during COVID-19 situation

Effective December 1, 2021, WYDOT will not downgrade Commercial Driver Licenses to non-commercial licenses for those drivers that are unable to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate due to the current COVID-19 situation. This is in line with the timeline that FMCSA has outlined in its extended emergency waiver issued on November 29, 2021.

In this waiver, FMCSA waives until February 28, 2022, the requirement under 49 CFR 391.45 that CDL holders, CLP holders, and non-CDL drivers have a medical examination and certification, provided they have proof of a valid medical certification and any required medical variance (as defined in 49 CFR 390.5T such as an exemption letter or a skill performance evaluation certificate) issued for a period of 90 days or longer and expired on or after September 1, 2021.

Unless otherwise extended, WYDOT will downgrade any driver that has not submitted an updated DOT card in accordance with the above mentioned date. For further information, please WYDOT Driver Services at (307) 777-4800, Option #4.
