Public Notice of Intent to Adopt Rules and Regulations

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) hereby gives public notice of intent, in accordance W.S. 16-3-103, to revise Motor Carrier Section, Chapter 5, Size and Weight Limitations of Vehicles

The revisions to Chapter 5, Size and Weight Limitations of Vehicles, update the rule to comply with current standards and practices.  Notable revisions include removing self-issuing (Class C) procedures and providing for all permit classes to be obtained through an online permitting system.  Additionally, revisions provide for more oversize and overweight exemptions for certain vehicles and equipment, including stinger-steered automobiles, emergency vehicles, and farm equipment.  Safety standards were also updated including provisions for light, high-profile vehicles, escort vehicles, and vehicles requesting extended period permits.  Revisions also include new equipment descriptions and updated definitions for added clarity.
