Technology Division

WYDOT's Technology Division is home to our Geographic Information System (GIS), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Transportation Management System (TMC), Information Technology (IT), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Emergency Communications programs. These teams collaboratively drive the coordination, research, development, and implementation of all technology across our extensive transportation network. Support for internal functions, ranging from road design to law enforcement, relies on the functionality of the various databases, servers, and software applications maintained by this team of multi-specialized experts. This vast technology network extends to roadside devices providing accurate, real-time information on road conditions and other data vital to the traveling public. Another unique aspect of this Division is its role in coordinating with local entities for the state of Wyoming's migration to Next Generation 911, and maintaining, operating, and coordianting the WyoLink public safety communications system. These systems are considered critical and essential communication networks, vital for public safety. Various public safety and service agencies across Wyoming rely on this Division to ensure coordination with stakeholders, comprehensive planning, providing and maintaining infrastructure, as well as facilitating and supporting communciation across multiple agencies. Sustaining these systems is a cornerstone of the WYDOT mission: "Provide a Safe and Effective Transportation System." Facing demanding hours and a dynamic workload, these high-functioning teams consistently demonstrate incredible resilience and dedication. The Technology Division has focused its goals into an evolution and sustainability plan designed to help our agency navigate the ever-changing technological landscape, ensuring continuous innovation and excellent service.
