District 2 Snow Plan - Levels of Service

CASPER AREA

Highways designated for high-volume service will be plowed first, with roads in other classifications handled as soon as possible thereafter. Changing weather and road conditions may require shifting resources from lower-priority roads to achieve the desired level of service on higher-volume highways.

Up to 20 hours daily of high-volume service is provided on Interstate 25.
 
Up to 16 hours daily of medium-volume service is provided on U.S. 20/26 Casper-Waltman; WYO 220 Casper-Alcova; WYO 258 (Wyoming Boulevard) and U.S. 20/26/87 Casper-Glenrock.

CHUGWATER AREA
Up to 20 hours daily of high-volume service is provided on I-25 from Laramie/Platte county line to District boundary north of Cheyenne (milepost 30.75).
 
The following roads are plowed once higher-level roads have been serviced:

WYO 315
I-25 service road
WYO 211
WYO 321
 
DOUGLAS AREA
Up to 20 hours daily of high-volume service is provided on I-25 within the Douglas area. Up to 16 hours of medium-volume service is provided north of Douglas on WYO 59 to the Campbell County Line and east of Orin Junction on U.S.-18/20 to the Niobrara County Line.

As level of service requirements are met on more traveled roads, plows are then dispatched to the Orpha Road to milepost 18 (WY 93), the Glenrock Connector/Rolling Hills and Monkey Mountain Road (WY 95), the Power Plant Road (US 20/26/87) to the East Glenrock Interchange and Orin Junction to Glendo (WY 319).

The following roads are plowed once higher-level roads have been serviced:
Box Elder Road (WY 90)
Cold Springs Road (WY 91)
Orpha Road to Ross (WY 93), milepost 18 to milepost 26.14
Esterbrook Road (WY 94)
LaPrele Road (WY 96)
I-25 service road from Douglas to Orin Junction.
WYO 59 service road
 
As storms abate, cleanup operations are undertaken only after all roads have been provided with their designated levels of service. Cleanup generally consists of removing plowed snow from interchanges and snow ridges along road shoulders to provide room for future snow storage.
 
 
LUSK AREA
Service is provided through town and on US 85, US 18/20, US 20 and the Manville-Lance Creek and Lance Creek-US 85 portions of WY 270.
 
The following roads are plowed once higher-level roads have been serviced:
Manville to Hartville (WYO 270)
Lance Creek Spur (WYO 271)
Cow Creek Road (WYO 272)
Golf Course Road (WYO 273)
 
 
MIDWEST AREA
Up to 20 hours daily of high-volume service is provided on I-25 from milepost 210 to north district boundary (milepost 234). Following service on I-25, crews will plow WYO 387. Once the higher level roads are completed, WYO 259, WYO 192 and the I-25 service roads will be plowed.
 
 
MUDDY GAP
Up to 16 hours of service per day on U.S. 287, U.S. 287/WYO 789 and WYO 220. Upon completion, crews will service WYO 73.
 
 
TORRINGTON AREA
Up to 16 hours of daily service is provided on U.S.-26/85 Torrington-Lingle, north of Lingle on U.S.-85 to milepost 124, south U.S.-85 to milepost 56, west of Lingle on U.S.-26 to milepost 20 east of Guernsey and east on U.S.-26 to the Nebraska State Line. This will normally be accomplished with multiple trucks working in unison so that snow can be moved from the inside shoulder across both travel lanes to the outside shoulder.

Lingle - Barnes (WYO 157)

Ft. Laramie Road (WYO 160)
Huntley - Yoder (WYO 161)
Hawk Springs - Chugwater (WYO 313)
 
Routes carrying relatively low volumes of traffic will generally be serviced after higher-volume routes have been cleared, with possible exceptions made for school buses or similar traffic.

WYO 158 will receive service after all other routes have completed cleanup.
 
 
WHEATLAND AREA
Up to 20 hours daily of high-volume service is provided on I-25 in the Wheatland area from milepost 72 to milepost 111. This will normally be accomplished with multiple trucks working in unison so that snow can be moved from the inside shoulder across both travel lanes to the outside shoulder.
 
Up to16 hours of medium-volume service is provided on US 26 Dwyer Jct.-Guernsey, westbound WY 34 to the Platte/Laramie County Line, WY 320 to US-26 and on to WY 270. US-87 and the I-25 Business Route are also cleared at this time.
