Roundabouts
There are currently five roundabouts on Wyoming's highway system.
Roundabouts are a safer, more cost-effective way to build some intersections. The National Cooperative Highway Research Program found converting intersections to roundabouts led to a 35 percent drop in crashes and a 76 percent drop in fatal or serious injuries due to crashes.
By keeping traffic moving and requiring fewer stops and accelerations than conventional intersections, roundabouts reduce delays and congestion, resulting in drops in fuel consumption and emissions.
Roundabout Animation
WYDOT has created a roundabout animation to show how traffic should flow through the circular intersections.
Clicking on the options in the table of vehicles and traffic movements in the upper left corner will allow you to watch a vehicle designated by a green arrow make the chosen movement through the roundabout.
