Bridge rehabilitation begins north of Cody and west of Cody

May 23, 2018

A $2.95 bridge rehabilitation project north of Cody on WYO 120 started May 21.

Reiman Corp., of Cheyenne began repairs Monday on the Cottonwood Creek bridge about 7 miles north of Cody.

"The contractor will be replacing the approach slab on this bridge, so there will be one-way traffic controlled by portable traffic signals for about a month," according to Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer Kaia Tharp of Thermopolis.

Following work north of Cody, the contractor's crew is scheduled to move west of Cody on US 14/16/20 for work on two bridges -- one bridge is 36 miles west of Cody, and the other is about 48 miles west of Cody.

"Again, while repairs are under way there will be one-way traffic controlled by portable traffic signals for about a month at each bridge," Tharp said. "There will be some repairs being completed on other bridges along the North Fork (U.S. 14/16/20) during that time frame. Expansion joints are being replaced, and the contractor will be milling and paving approach slabs during June."

The contractor is planning epoxy overlays on the three Cody-area bridges in July, and another bridge west of Dubois (US 26/287) will receive an epoxy overlay.

"During the epoxy overlays, there will be one-way traffic with flaggers during working hours," Tharp said.

The current bridge repairs are part of a bridge rehabilitation project on 18 bridges in northwest Wyoming. The work is scheduled in Big Horn, Fremont, Hot Springs and Park counties. Repairs and improvements include bridge deck repair, silica fume overlay, expansion joint replacement, and a few approach slab replacements.

Contract completion date for the bridge improvements is Oct. 31, 2018.
