Construction report for Sept. 29 UW game

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Fans traveling to the University of Wyoming football game against the Boise State Broncos this Saturday, Sept. 29, should expect the following activities and/or construction projects:

Statewide:

  • Law enforcement agencies in three states will be joining forces this weekend as part of an impaired driving enforcement operation in conjunction with this weekend’s football game.
  • The Wyoming Highway Patrol, Idaho State Police, and Utah Highway Patrol will be out in force, particularly on Interstates 80 and 84 – the main route between Boise and Laramie.
  • Coordinated enforcement efforts will take place from Friday, Sept. 28, through Sunday, Sept. 30.

In the City of Laramie:

  • Drivers entering Laramie from the west on Snowy Range Road should remember the new Snowy Range Road Bridge is now open. This new route will place drivers onto Harney Street at 3rd Street instead of Clark Street at 3rd Street.
  • As of Thursday, Sept. 27, the weather forecast for Saturday in Laramie is sunny and breezy with a high in the mid 70s. Check weather.gov for the latest weather information.

Albany County:

  • A project to resurface all nine miles of WYO 10 in Albany County is ongoing. Drivers should be prepared for delays, with alternating one-way traffic control in effect during work hours.

Between Cheyenne and Laramie:

  • Construction is wrapping up in the westbound lanes of I-80 between Otto Road and Harriman Road, but both lanes will be open to traffic this weekend.
  • No other lane closures.

Between Casper and Laramie:

  • No construction activities.

Between Rawlins/Carbon County and Laramie:

  • The Wagonhound Rest Area and interchange (Exit 267) remains closed due to bridge work. Drivers are being detoured on the exit and entrance ramps of the interchange.
  • Bridge work on Interstate 80 in eastern Carbon County continues. Drivers should be prepared for lane closures and reduced speeds.
  • Traffic remains in a two-lane head-to-head configuration in the Fort Steele area for a resurfacing project.
  • Drivers using WYO 230 south of Riverside should be aware of the ongoing Ryan Fire. The fire is not currently threatening the highway, but smoke may be present in the area.

Between Fort Collins and Laramie:

  • No construction activities.

As with all events, drivers should use caution during higher periods of traffic. If you drink, always designate a sober driver. Go Cowboys!
