Demolition/blasting of old Sage Creek bridge set for Feb. 27 near Lovell

February 22, 2019

Demolition of the old Sage Creek bridge is scheduled for 10 a.m., Feb. 27, adjacent to US 310 between Lovell and Cowley, and traffic delays are expected.

"The bridge piers are set to be blasted, leaving the old bridge deck to fall to the ground.  About 9:55 a.m. Feb. 27, northbound and southbound traffic will be stopped 1,500 feet from the bridge, and an area will be cleared prior to blasting," according to Wyoming Department of Transportation Resident Engineer Michael Miller of Basin.

Miller said Shoshone River bridge improvements are continuing through the winter, weather permitting, as well as removal of the old Sage Creek and railroad bridges adjacent to U.S. 310. "Chip sealing, seeding and reclamation is scheduled for this spring and summer," Miller added.

The $11.7 million Sage Creek highway and bridge improvement project consists of road widening, bridge widening over the Shoshone River, replacement of the Sage Creek and railroad bridges, asphalt paving, and other work.
