Emergency repairs of Dorsey Creek pipe started today west of Basin on WY30

DorseyCreek 4-2020.jpgA failing pipe is the focus of a $230,000 emergency repair project over the next two weeks between Basin and Otto on WY30.

Reduced speeds are expected through the work zone, with some minor traffic delays.

Prime contractor Wilson Brothers Construction Inc., of Cowley will stabilize and realign the existing 9-foot pipe, backfill the downstream end of the pipe where the roadway was washed out several weeks ago, rebuild the washed out highway embankment, and place and grout into place an 8-foot-diameter pipe sleeve through the existing pipe.

"The contractor is operating on a 2-week timeline to complete all work," said Wyoming Department of Transportation construction engineer Randy Merritt of Basin. "If needed, there could be a possible future roadway closure to help complete this project."

WYDOT maintenance workers are flagging the repair project.

Wilson Brothers Construction was awarded a $797,940 contract this month by the Wyoming Transportation Commission to clean and repair corroded pipes along US287 south of Lander. The Dorsey Creek emergency pipe repair was added to the Fremont County project contract.
