Jefferson Street/East Main Street improvements begin July 9 in Lander

June 25, 2018

More than $813,000 in roadway, curb, gutter and sidewalk improvements are scheduled to begin July 9 on Jefferson Street and US 287/WYO 789 in Lander.

The prime contractor on the project is EHC, LLC, of Deaver (Wyoming).

The project is located within the city limits of Lander, and two routes are being improved -- Jefferson Street, from its intersection with North 8th East to North 6th; and East Main Street (U.S. 287/Wyoming 789), beginning at milepost 80.51 and extending about 1,600 feet to milepost 80.21.

"Work on East Main Street will extend sidewalk for about 1,600 feet along the east side of the highway from Mount Hope Drive south to the entrance of the Blue Ridge Apartments," according to Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer Erik Smith of Lander. "Curb and gutter will be extended about 350 feet along the east side of the highway."

Smith said the Jefferson Street improvements includes grading, placing crushed gravel base, asphalt paving, sidewalk, curb and gutter and other work.

"Four named streets exist within Jefferson Street: North 6th Street (east end), Riverview Drive (middle of project), Unnamed Street (middle of project) and North 8th Street (west end)," Smith said. "The scope of work includes some limited reconstruction of these streets within the project limits."

Contract completion date is Oct. 31.
