Paving is complete and traffic back to normal on the rebuilt 2.3-mile section of US 26-287 at Diversion Dam Junction west of Riverton. A final chip seal is scheduled for next spring. Casper’s Oftedal Construction completed the work under a $4.3 million contract awarded by the Wyoming Transportation Commission in March. The work addressed problems with unstable soils under the highway by installing three layers of geogrid, a heavy plastic mesh, in the soil before the road section was rebuilt. The project was paid for with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase, and the contract completion date is June 30, 2015.
