RAWLINS, Wyo. — Maintenance crews with the Wyoming Department of Transportation will begin seasonal paving operations in Carbon County on Monday, weather permitting.
Work will begin on U.S. Highway 30/287 near Medicine Bow, between mile markers 263.8-264.2. This operation is expected to take about two days.
Once that section is complete, crews will focus on portions of Interstate 80, including the eastbound lanes near Elk Mountain from mile markers 261.2-261.5 and westbound at mile markers 245 and 247.8.
Other routes scheduled for paving include:
·Small sections of Wyoming Highway 130 near Saratoga at mile markers 64.55, 60.2, 58.6 and 53.2.
·Sections of Wyoming Highway 70 at mile markers 50-50.2 and 46.2-46.3.
·Sections of I-80 near Rawlins at mile markers 206.9 and 209. More information about the work at mile marker 209, including potential ramp closures, will be announced once scheduling is finalized.
·A section of Wyoming Highway 76 at mile marker 222.
·Sections of highway around the town of Baggs. More information about specific locations and timing will be released once scheduling is finalized.
Motorists through any of the above areas this month should expect potential delays due to lane closures, reduced speed limits and other traffic control. Heavy truck traffic carrying loads of paving mix may cause delays near Walcott Jct. on both WYO 130 and I-80.
In any work zone, be sure to avoid distractions like cell phones and obey all posted signs and flaggers.
Paving operations in Carbon County are expected to take a little over a month. All WYDOT project scheduling is subject to change, including due to inclement weather and material or equipment availability.
