SUNDANCE - A WYDOT snowplow received minor damage when it was hit on Interstate 90 recently.
The incident happened Wednesday, April 10, near mile marker 191 on I-90 just east of Sundance. The driver of a Ford Excursion was pulling a camper trailer and lost control of his vehicle when he approached the bridge deck while passing the WYDOT snowplow who was in the left passing lane. The snowplow blade caught the trailer and the two of them ended up in the median.
The snowplow received minor damage, while the Excursion/trailer combo received substantial damage. There were no injuries reported.
This is the fourth snow plow incident on I-90 this winter.
The Sundance area received more than 12 inches of snow over a 36-hour period. US 212 was closed for much of Wednesday due to heavy, drifting snow causing motorists to be disabled on that roadway.
WYDOT strongly encourages all drivers to increase their following distances when snow removal operations are occurring on our highways and take extreme caution on bridges.
