RAWLINS, Wyo. – A WYDOT snowplow was damaged in a hit and run incident on Interstate 80 yesterday.
The incident happened Monday, Jan. 21, near MM 182 on I-80, which is west of Rawlins between Wamsutter and Creston Junction.A semi truck hit the back of the snowplow while it was working to clear the road. The semi did not stop and continued down I-80, while the plow driver pulled over to file a report with the Wyoming Highway Patrol, as per protocol.
The sander of the plow was damaged and will need to be repaired. The crash serves as a reminder to drivers of all vehicles to be aware of snow removal equipment during winter conditions.
Drivers should give plows plenty of space to work and use extreme caution when passing.
