Three intersections in Gillette to get new traffic signals

March 19, 2020

2nd and Brooks St.jpgGILLETTE – The Wyoming Department of Transportation will begin replacing three traffic signals on its system in Gillette beginning this April.

The intersections of 2nd Street and Brooks Avenue, US 14/16 and Warlow Drive, and US 14/16 and 4th Avenue will be upgraded to meet current traffic standards.

This $1.5 million highway safety improvement program funded project will include installing new signal poles and heads, replacing curbs, gutters and sidewalks, all of which will meet current ADA requirements.

Scott Brother’s Inc. was awarded the bid and will begin work on the intersection of 2nd Street and Brooks mid- to late-April. Each intersection is expected to take a month to complete. Once 2nd and Brooks is complete, they will move on to the Warlow intersection and then the 4th Avenue intersection. Scott Brother’s expects to fully complete the project by late August.

During the reconstruction of these intersections there will be reduced speed limits, lane closures, flagging operations and heavy truck traffic. Local traffic is encouraged to obey all traffic control put in place or to find an alternate route.

The city of Gillette will be removing perennial plants from the intersections prior to excavating being done and will replant them once the contractors have completed the upgrades.
