Traffic signal power outage planned for noon Friday at East Park Avenue/North Federal Boulevard intersection in Riverton

April 6, 2018

NorthFed-outage.jpgA planned power outage at noon Friday will cut power to the traffic signal at the intersection of North Federal Boulevard and East Park Avenue in Riverton.

During the planned 3-hour power outage (noon to 3 p.m.), workers will be moving power lines to a new light pole. During the power outage, traffic using the area will be moved through the intersection by flaggers. At the end of the power outage, power to the traffic signal will be restored and the signal's operation will return to normal.

"Traffic will move smoothly through the intersection, with the help of flaggers, while the work is under way," said WYDOT project engineer Cody Johler, "but the traffic signal won't be functioning. Please use common sense and follow the flaggers' direction during the planned power outage."

Progress is being made on the $13.96 million North Federal Boulevard project in Riverton.

Crews plan to work Saturday, April 7, weather permitting.

Prime contractor S&S Builders' work schedule calls for:

  • Sanitary sewer installation continuing toward East Park Avenue next week;
  • A six-hour closure of the North Federal Boulevard/Park Avenue intersection on Wednesday, April 18, during demolition of the old concrete driving surface, at a time to be determined and announced 24 hours in advance;
  • Demolition of the current North Federal Boulevard concrete driving surface through East Jackson Avenue on April 19, and through Lincoln Avenue on April 20;
  • And continued installation of fresh water pipe installation between East Washington Avenue and Main Street.

All work is dependent upon favorable weather.

Citizens and businesses are reminded of the weekly public meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, in Riverton City Hall.
