Transportation Commission awards $23 million in highway contracts in April

The Wyoming Department of Transportation will make improvements to a section of road north of Lander, which will modernize and smooth out the road.

The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded High Country Construction Inc., of Lander, a $14.6 million contract to reconstruct about 7 miles of WYO 132 in Fremont County. The commission awarded that and eight other contracts totaling $23 million recently.

For the WYO 132 project, crews will flatten the steeper curves, install lighting in several areas, add shoulders and install turning lanes. The contract completion date is Oct. 31, 2019.

Other contracts the commission awarded included paving, patching and installing traffic signals.

Riverside Contracting Inc., of Missoula, Montana, won a $2.9 million contract for leveling and pavement resurfacing on 8 miles of WYO 120 between Cody and Montana in Park County. The contract completion date is June 30, 2019.

Knife River, of Cheyenne, was the low bidder on a $2.8 million patching contract in Converse and Platte counties. Crews will complete the majority of the patching work on Interstate 25.

WYDOT is performing the work to extend the life of the road. The contract completion date is Oct. 31, 2018.

The commission awarded Cache Valley Electric Co., of Salt Lake, Utah, a $1.2 million contract for traffic signal installation at various locations in Cheyenne, Cody, Laramie and Rawlins.

Crews will replace current traffic signals with modern traffic signals. The contract completion date is Oct. 31, 2018.

EHC LLC, of Deaver, won a $813,323 contract for sidewalk installation on Main Street (WYO 789) and a reconstruction project on Jefferson Street in Lander. The contract completion date is Oct. 31, 2018.

The commission also awarded contracts for:

  • $410,694 to Cache Valley Electric Co. for traffic signal upgrades in Gillette and Jackson by Oct. 31, 2018;
  • $223,695 to Casper Electric Inc., of Casper, for signal detection upgrades in Gillette and Sheridan by Oct. 31, 2018;
  • $155,902 to Cache Valley Electric Co. for logo sign installation on various sections of interstates 25 and 90 by Oct. 31, 2018; and
  • $124,001 to Jackalope Hydro Seeding and Reclamation LLC, of Douglas, for right-of-way fencing replacement on 2 miles of US 89 between the Idaho state line and Afton by Oct. 31, 2018.
