Fun refreshments, a chance to meet a trooper and his K9 partner and watch them in action, and of course, an opportunity to meet and ask questions of other Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers are all part of Saturday's Open House in Lander.

"We'll have some fun and entertainment for everyone," said Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Travis Hauser of Lander. "Please stop by and enjoy some time with us."

The Wyoming Highway Patrol Open House is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lander office, 350 Garfield in Lander. The Patrol office "will be open for everyone to come and look around and ask questions about what we do. We want to show Lander people where we are at and what we have to offer," Hauser said.

Demonstrations will include a trooper and his K9 partner, and crash scene investigation with a member of the Wyoming Highway Patrol's Crash Team.

"Trooper Marc Russell and his K9 (Bailey) of Rock Springs will demonstrate how K9 works and help us find some illegal contraband," Hauser said. "Lt. Tyler Chapman of Rawlins will represent the Crash Team, and he will demonstrate how we diagram crashes and work through crash scenes."

Hauser said part of the Saturday's Open House will involve the use of the Bank of the West parking lot. "We'll be doing child safety seat checks, and we will have the roll-over machine to help us show everyone why seatbelts are important," he said.
