Williams Street signal on U.S. 85 to be temporarily replaced

September 18, 2018

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – The “span-wire” style traffic signal on US 85 at Williams Street south of Cheyenne will be replaced with a temporary signal for four months beginning Wednesday, Sept. 19.

The change will facilitate the movement of a series of compressor buildings through the Cheyenne area en route to Colorado. WYDOT crews will change out the signal on the morning of Sept. 19.

In all, a total of 16 buildings will pass through the area in caravans of four at a time. Each building is 27 feet tall and 24 feet wide.

The first set of buildings is scheduled to move through the Cheyenne area on Friday. The rest of the buildings will pass through over the next few months.

The route of the trucks carrying the buildings through Laramie County will be WYO 213 to Burns, then west on the I-80 service road to Campstool Road, then College Drive (WYO 212) to US 85 south and into Colorado. The route was selected because it best accommodates the large structures.
