Work begins at the Y Intersection

May 10, 2018

The Wyoming Department of Transportation and contract crews began work on the Y intersection in Jackson this Tuesday, beginning with milling operations.  The milling operations will take place at night, with work starting around 7 p.m. and continuing until around 6 a.m.

Crews will begin paving the milled sections on Thursday,  during the day.  Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction.  Commuters and drivers are advised to plan accordingly and expect delays and long wait times.  Paving will halt on Friday and pick back up on Saturday and Sunday.

During these operations, crews will be turning the signal off and flagging motorists through the intersection.

“There is just no easy way to do this.  It’s going to be difficult and inconvenient for drivers,” Resident Engineer Bob Hammond said.

WYDOT strongly advises local residents to avoid the Y intersection as much as possible on Thursday and over the weekend.

WYDOT would like to remind drivers to slow down in work zones and be alert and cautious of roadside workers.  For more information on road construction, closures and weather conditions, please visit WYDOT's 511 website.
