WYDOT cautions river users of elevated velocities and wave trains near construction

JACKSON - The Wyoming Department of Transportation is warning river users on the Snake River south to exercise caution when navigating the section of river near the Jackson south construction site below the Snake River bridge north of the KOA campground. The velocity of the flow and the size of the wave train have increased substantially due to bridge construction activities. 
 
“This section of the river is typically used by fisherman and inner-tubers, who generally do not expect or are unprepared for rough waters.  We want to warn everyone and make sure that everyone knows what to expect and can prepare accordingly,” said WYDOT project engineer Dave Kaufman.
 
WYDOT would like to remind drivers to slow down in work zones, be alert and cautious of roadside workers and obey all traffic control devices.  For more information on road construction, closures and weather conditions, please visit WYDOT's 511 website.
