JACKSON - The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed WYO 22 Teton Pass again this morning around 7:30 a.m. for an avalanche at the Twin Slide. The cause of the slide is currently being investigated. No one has been injured by the slide.
WYDOT is currently working to clear the Teton Pass area of recreationists so that they can conduct more avalanche mitigation.
“We need folks to clear out of the area so we can get to work and get this pass open again,” WYDOT Jackson Foreman Bruce Daigle said.
WYDOT does not currently have an estimated time of opening for Teton Pass.
“It just depends how quickly we can get people off the mountain,” Daigle said.
Significant winter weather has been impacting the region all month, and by Feb. 26, the month of February had become the second snowiest month in the Town of Jackson history, with a total of 47.8 inches, which doesn’t include last night’s storm totals.
WYDOT is encouraging residents to plan ahead, especially if their travel plans take them over Teton Pass. To receive updates on the situation, sign up for 511 alerts.
