All plates with four or fewer characters will now have a vehicle type code after the county number and before the bucking horse emblem: IE p for Passenger Car, T for Truck, M for Motorcycle, etc
Only one unique 5-character combination allowed per county (no longer able to have the same 5-character plate on a truck and passenger car and a motorcycle, etc)
Personalized Prestige Plates

Personalized plates may be obtained for use on all regularly registered vehicles except:
- vehicles obtained for sale or demonstration by licensed dealers
- vehicles for which radio amateur plates are issued
- apportioned vehicles
- vehicles for which specialty plates are obtained.
Personalized prestige plates will be sent to the county treasurer of the county for which the plates are ordered. Upon payment of the regular registration fees, the county treasurer will issue the prestige plates in lieu of regular plates. If the vehicle has a current regular registration, the regular license plates must be surrendered to the county treasurer upon issuance of the prestige plates.
Prestige Plates Allowable Combinations:
- A maximum of 5 letters (letter, numbers and spaces)
- No spaces at the beginning or end
- Capital letters and Arabic numbers only
- No symbols
- No more than three (3) W's or M's are allowed in any combination
- No all-number combinations unless the first digit is a zero (0)
- No combinations starting with numbers followed by a single, double, or triple letter suffix: IE 123A, 12AB, 1ABC
- No combinations that are obscene, vulgar, indecent, or pruriently suggestive
- No combinations that duplicate a currently issued plate or conflict with a regular issue license plate series
Refunds:
No refund of the application fee will be given if the applicant marks the wrong vehicle type. If uncertain as to the correct type of plates to order, please contact your County Treasurer.
