Limited Supply of Tribal Plates Available for Purchase

A limited supply of Tribal license plates is available for purchase.

By law, WYDOT was required to cease production of these plates because the minimum requirement of 500 sets was not met. However, approximately 200 sets of previously produced plates remain in our inventory.

Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Once this remaining inventory is exhausted, no more Tribal plates will be available for sale. Please note that these plates can continue to be used on your vehicle through 2033.

Tribal License Plates

Any person required to register a vehicle in Wyoming may apply to the University of Wyoming for distinctive Eastern Shoshone or Northern Arapaho Tribal license plates.  ***Applicants are not required to be a tribal member to apply for this Specialty Plate***

General Provisions

1. A completed application shall be mailed to the address shown at the bottom of the application, along with a fee of $100 made payable to WYDOT.  ($70 fee for Tribal Scholarships and $30 special plate fee)
2. Plates will be issued in consecutive order and forwarded to the county treasurer's office.
3. Current plates must be surrendered to the treasurer's office upon issuance of the Tribal Plates.
