WYDOT's Driver Services Program administers and maintains Wyoming's driving records system; tests, issues and processes all classes of licenses, commercial driver licenses, learner permits, graduated driver licensing, and identification cards. Driver Services maintains driver history records, including convictions for motor vehicle offenses and crashes, and administers the process of withdrawing and reinstating driving privileges.

WYDOT works extensively with numerous partners in the private sector to improve and maintain the state's transportation infrastructure, sponsoring millions of dollars of work annually. WYDOT engineers and technical support staff perform a wide range of tasks in the course of maintaining and improving Wyoming’s transportation infrastructure. At headquarters in Cheyenne and numerous field offices across the state, engineers and technicians oversee development of plans and specifications for improvement plans for highways, bridges and related infrastructure.
Engineering processes are also integral to WYDOT’s environmental services, geology, highway safety, photo and surveys, right of way, materials and testing laboratory and other programs.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation and Wyoming Highway Patrol have established a voluntary reporting system for manufacturers conducting automated driving system (ADS) vehicle testing within the state.
